Kimi to Boku 2 Ep. 13 Review (aka Yuuta/Shun Feels)

Shun, darling, it'll be okay...

This is the last episode. I really can't believe this is the last episode. This series just...it shouldn't end, okay? It should just continue on through the rest of their lives.

This episode gave me a lot of Yuuta/Shun feels and pretty Shun to look at, so, yeah, I'm happy!

Tsuritama Ep. 12 (Not a Review, Just a Lot of Fangirling)

I have no words for how much I love this series! I love it so much, and I love the fandom so much, and I don't want to talk about any spoilers, so I'm just going to rant for a second. This last episode was brilliant. It was Tsuritama in a nutshell--fishing, aliens, craziness, feels, and plenty of "what the heck are they DOING?" moments. I've only watched it raw so far, but hopefully I'll see a subbed version soon enough! It was actually really easy to understand what was going on, even though I am by no means good at Japanese yet. Right now, I think I just want to read some fanfiction or something, and cross my fingers that there will be merchandise released soon because I NEED IT LIKE AIR. ~Hana

Sorry!

Just wanted to apologize for the lack of updates on...well...everything. I've been out of town, and I'll be able to catch up on things when I get back tomorrow or the next day.

Thoughts on La Corda d'Oro

I tend to think of this show as UtaPri's serious, angsty older cousin.

It's definitely less vibrant than UtaPri, and isn't quite as much fun either. I think part of the problem might be that it takes itself too seriously. We hardly ever get to see the cast just hanging out and having a good time.

The other part of the problem?

It feels like you're playing through everyone's path simultaneously.

Kimi to Boku 2 Ep. 12 Review

Nearing the end...

Okay, so in all honesty, I don't think this was the best episode. I think this show shines the most when all five boys are interacting, and this episode had so little of that, I was disappointed.

Kimi to Boku 2 Ep. 11 (aka Cute, Cute, and More Cute)

Best volleyball game ever.

So, I still can't figure out if I've got a favorite character in this show because I love them all, but I think Chizuru is probably pretty close. His personality is just so refreshing. This is completely unrelated, why am I even saying this.

This episode is a more light-hearted one, with the school sports competitions.

Tsuritama Ep. 10 Review

And this is the only show for me.

Had to watch this twice before I could calm down and type a somewhat coherent review of what happened this episode because sjafkdjlajfkldsa YOU GUYS IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL AND SAD AND I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS SHOW SO MUCH RIGHT NOW.

This may continue to include a lot of capslock and keysmashing because it's really hard not to.

Kuroko no Basuke Ep. 9-10 Review

What do you mean, this is a show about basketball? It's obviously way too cute for that!

I look forward to the little endcaps at the end of every episode because they're always so cute and completely irrelevant (and I swear the writers are trying to ship, like, everyone).

So...I honestly didn't mean to procrastinate on episode 9 so much, but then I realized 10 had come out and figured the smart thing to do was review these two episodes together. And attempt to stay somewhat on schedule next time.

Oops...

I know I'm behind on reviews for Kuroko no Basuke...I swear I'll watch it soon! ...Just let me watch Legend of Korra first! ^_^;;

Sakamichi no Apollon Ep. 9 Review (aka The Love Pentagon Ends)

New endings...and new beginnings

Okay, Sakamichi, you've won me over again with this episode. Thank you so much for ending the bizarre love pentagon and finally settling on some pairings in such a beautiful way.

(Also, I watched this directly after Batman Beyond, which was a bit of genre whiplash, but it was still great!)

Tsuritama Ep. 9 Review (aka Hairdryers, Tears, and Friendship)

So many feelings.

I love this show. I love this show so much.

It's ridiculous and brilliant and sad and quirky and amazing and I love it.

This episode reflects all of that so perfectly.

Kimi to Boku Ep. 10 Review (aka Magical Flowers and Chizuru Love)

Biscuits, anyone?

Ohhh my gosh, this show. This episode. It's really hard to explain why I love Kimi to Boku so much. It's something about the simplicity of it, and the nostalgic air, and how it's soft and sweet but not necessarily perfect.

This particular episode focuses mainly on Chizuru (who seems to be the star of this season). I can't even begin to tell you how much appreciation I've gained for his character since the show started.

Hiiro no Kakera Ep. 10 Review (aka Obligatory Bath Scenes and Mahiro Love)

I'm sexy and I know it~!

Prepare for a lot of Mahiro spam, because that's pretty much what this episode was. And I'm not complaining, because I prefer looking at him to watching the inane, shapeless plot and ultra-angst that's been running this show.

Quick Note

Hey, just wanted to say there won't be any new reviews up until Sunday afternoon, possibly later. Sorry!

Sakamichi no Apollon Ep. 8 Review

I love these three!
So, most of this episode was spent on romance and Jun's backstory, but that's okay. I don't mind too much.

Tsuritama Ep. 8 (I Wish I Could Stay Like This Forever)

Me too, guys, me too.
*cries*
I'm going to bawling my eyes out at the end of this show, I can tell. It doesn't matter if it's the happiest ending in the world, I will still be sobbing into my 100th tissue because this show is so amazing and I don't want it to end!

I don't even know where to start with this episode. It was beautiful. I was close to tears more than once. I wanted to hug all four of them and tell them that it's going to be okay, because, asdfjkl; it's so sad.

I'm Kinda Predictable...

Just started watching the Hunter x Hunter reboot anime (never saw the original) and I'm loving it so far! This continues my recurring pattern of liking long series with mostly male characters (yep, talking about you, KKM, Reborn, etc, etc!). Sometimes I think I'm just masochistic, since the humongous selection of merchandise for even one of these shows is enough to make me penniless and then some...and I never manage to come in at the beginning of a series like this either. It's like some sort of curse. ^_^;;
(but I enjoy it~!)

Not completely obsessed with HxH yet, but probably will be soon enough!

Kuroko no Basuke--Fast-Paced Basketball Fun

I really like watching sports anime for some unexplicable reason. Outside of anime, I don't like watching sports, talking about sports, or playing sports. But in anime, it's fun.

Kuroko no Basuke (aka The Basketball Which Kuroko Plays--according to the show itself) is a recent, ongoing sports anime. The main character, Kuroko, has little to no presence on or off the court, but works this to his advantage by being able to pass the ball quickly and accurately to his teammates while going unnoticed by the competition.

Kimi to Boku 2--Because It's Cute

Let me begin by saying that I have adored Kimi to Boku since it first started. It's my kind of series. For those of you who don't know, it follows five high school boys in their daily lives. There's not much in terms of overarcing plot; the focus is more
on their conversations and mishaps as they go about their usual routines. They're all very loveable characters, and it's hard not to smile when you watch this show because, while it might not be the most exciting, there's something very comfortable and warm about the boys' friendship.

Hiiro no Kakera--Is It Over Yet?

The main cast looking somewhat happy for once...believe me, that's a rarity in this show.
(And this is just a picture from the credits...)
Want to hear an interesting story? Well, I had been taking a bit of a break and fell behind all the shows I was watching by about 4(ish) episodes. And so, starting back up again, I had to watch the older stuff and get caught up. It was fine; I didn't really mind it. And then Hiiro no Kakera came along. I had been three episodes in prior to my hiatus and now, of course, there are eight episodes out. So what do I do? I watch episode 8 thinking it's episode 4. And now I kind of want to bang my head on a wall for being so stupid. I mean, really, can't I read?

The worst part of it was I couldn't tell I had skipped four episodes.

Sakamichi no Apollon: Kids on the Slope (Of Love, Apparently)

“Unlike love affairs, friendship is for life.”

I won’t deny for a second that Sakamichi no Apollon is an amazing work of art. It really is. The music, the atmosphere…everything just fits. But, at the same time…

Yes. I really do wish everyone would stop falling in love.

Tsuritama--Fishing and Aliens, What Could Be Better?

Who wouldn't want to fish with these guys? (Hey, Haru, put that water gun down!)
(tsuritama and these images do not belong to me, sadly)

I'm sure most up-to-date anime enthusiasts have at least heard mention of this title. It's a new show this season, adorably quirky, and well worth watching if you're a fan of fishing, aliens, or cute boys that have more personality than "look at me, I sparkle!"

Intro

Hi there! I'm Hana, and I'll be using this blog to post reviews of anime and stuff! I'm American (Kimura Hana is a pseudonym) and have been an otaku for, let's see...how long has it been? Nearly three years, I guess. And, trust me, even if that doesn't seem like all that long a time, I am so deep into the anime and manga world that there is no possible way to turn back, even if I wanted to (and I don't!). I'm also currently in the process of learning Japanese and plan to become a translator once I'm out of college. Anyway, that's me in a nutshell! I'm really looking forward to posting and expressing all my love for anime, manga, and other cool Japanese things!
