Kimi to Boku 2--Because It's Cute

Let me begin by saying that I have adored Kimi to Boku since it first started. It's my kind of series. For those of you who don't know, it follows five high school boys in their daily lives. There's not much in terms of overarcing plot; the focus is more
on their conversations and mishaps as they go about their usual routines. They're all very loveable characters, and it's hard not to smile when you watch this show because, while it might not be the most exciting, there's something very comfortable and warm about the boys' friendship.

I'll mostly be reviewing episode 9 here, since it's the most recent and I just watched it, but I really do recommend the whole series, including the first season.

The episode starts with the five friends--Kaname, Shun, Yuuta, Yuuki, and Chizuru--buying juice and bemoaning the fact that students never have any money. Yuuki brings up the fact that a game he wants is about to come out, and that he doesn't have the money for it. (I know the feeling, Yukki!)

The others suggest he get a part-time job, and start discussing what would suit him best.

Chizuru thinks he should be a host. (Look at that hair flip, how could you resist?)

Shun disagrees and says he should work in a bookstore, since he likes manga and such. Yuuki likes that suggestion better, but only because he wants to stand around and read things for free. (Yuuki reminds me so much of myself sometimes XD)

Is the picture on the magazine from an actual series? Because to me it looks like Bakuman meets Ao no Exorcist meets something really, really cute. (If this is a real series, I want to know what it is--it looks adorable!) Oh, and look, guys! It's Oldtype!

In the end, Yuuki gets a job as a waiter at a family restaurant.

I'd like to take a moment to appreciate their expressions here. Kaname has the weirdest smirk ever, Chizuru is super thrilled to be there, Shun looks adorable as always, and Yuuta is like "wow, my brother's actually working!"

And this is his manager (not really!).

So the other four come to pester Yuuki at his new job. Unfortunately, he accidentally brings someone else's order (a mix juice) to their table, and Chizuru drinks it all. They all freak out when they realize what happened, and Yuuki attempts to make an escape. The others manage to convince him to try and find a solution--namely, he switches places with his twin brother (Yuuta) while he and the other three attempt to recreate the lost juice.

There was absolutely no chance of this going smoothly, not with these guys.

So, Yuuta serves the customers disguised as Yuuki, and stuns the customers (especially one little girl) with his looks and manners. The other four sneak around and try to figure out what ingredients to use.

As you can see, they got rather creative. (The "grass" is from a bush sitting in the restaurant.) This whole scene just made me burst out laughing!

Shun likes the idea of sticking plants into the drink and makes a pretty little flower arrangement in his cup. Yes, Shun, it's cute! So are you!

Kaname is not amused.

Meanwhile, the customer is getting impatient and tells the manager she's going to leave...but wait! Yuuki and the others hurry over with a blender and ingredients to provide "fresh" juice. Given a chance to redeem himself, Yuuki starts putting ingredients into the blender. All seems to be going well...until he starts the blender up without the lid on.

Totally saw that coming.

Obviously, his manager isn't particularly thrilled about this, and fires him. (Poor Yukki!)

He doesn't even get any money because of the damages.

They all start walking back home, but Yuuki is stopped by the little girl who fell in love with Yuuta when he was serving food...and she kisses him before running back to her mother! Yuuki is in shock at first, and then starts denying it happened when Chizuru begins to tease him.

That's pretty much the end of the episode and, I have to say, it's a great one! It's funny, endearing, and does what this show is best at: giving you twenty-something minutes of five cute boys in an everyday situation. It's one of those shows you can sit down, watch, and walk away with a smile every time. It doesn't need heaps of teenage drama or suggestive scenes--it's just pure, innocent fun. That's exactly why I love this show.

See ya!
