Hiiro no Kakera Ep. 10 Review (aka Obligatory Bath Scenes and Mahiro Love)

I'm sexy and I know it~!

Prepare for a lot of Mahiro spam, because that's pretty much what this episode was. And I'm not complaining, because I prefer looking at him to watching the inane, shapeless plot and ultra-angst that's been running this show.

We begin with the evil little girl being displeased with her minions for disobeying her. And since Drei did that twice, he gets kicked out. Ha. Take that, creepy old man.

Then we switch back to our beloved heroine, who is happy and smiling and having fun with her classmates while in extreme denial. "It's like none of that happened, and everything will be okay!" Look, I'm glad you're optimistic and everything, but you're just coming across as stupid at this point...

She then highlights her incompetency even more by being unable to withstand a gust of wind alone. Thank goodness Ohmi shows up out of nowhere to protect her!

Thankfully, the boys take over the episode from there and begin talking about their plans. Some more serious conversation takes place, as per usual. Basically, they talk about how they have completely, utterly failed to put up a decent fight.

They also have fun ignoring Mahiro and his surprise about Fiona-sensei.

Then, Ohmi chooses couples pairs them up for different tasks. Mahiro and Takuma are supposed to guard Tamaki 24/7 now, and have a cute little argument over it because *gasp* this means sleeping in the same house!

And Mahiro, being Mahiro, states the obvious: "We might not look it, but we're still men!"

This screenshot amuses me to no end. Those three being all "how scandalous!" and Yuuichi's all chill and contemplative. What exactly is he contemplating, the fact that they're men?

Then they walk home and the two official perverts bodyguards tease her about their new assignment.

Why, yes, I was thinking something else.

They get back to the house and find a room waiting for them, with boxes of their stuff. Mahiro wastes no time in making himself at home with a poster and a chair, with his other junk scattered around him.

Then he orders Mitsuru to make him dinner, pretty much. Nice, Mahiro, take advantage of the hospitality.

This is followed by a semi-serious conversation about his hopes and dreams to travel to America and go cross-country on a bike. Seems like this is kind of out-of-the-blue, but oh well.

Wedged in the middle of this episode, we have some foreshadowing or some such nonsense by cookie man and green-haired stalker guy. Cookie man tells us why he's there, and green-haired guy gets jealous over Shinji and seems to want to replace him.

This is probably plot-relevant, but who cares? We're about to get lovey-dovey with Tamaki and Takuma in the Twilight fashion, because it's all about protecting her.

This scene was kind of funny and predictable, and there was some of that "oh, this is a special moment" music swelling up in the background, just in case anyone didn't catch that it was a romantic scene. The staring up into a moonlit sky wasn't enough of a hint, obviously.

Look at that face. Doesn't it just scream "I LOVE YOU! MARRY ME?"

I really don't think there's any doubt about who the finalist for Tamaki's love is going to be...assuming this gets a decent ending.

And, last but not least, we get to talk about the obligatory bath scene! Honestly, I'm surprised it took them ten episodes to have one.

Anyway, we get to see them lounging about in the bath, arguing and looking hot, and then Tamaki runs into them while they've only got their towels on, leading to the awkwardness here.

And then, at the end, we get another hint of ~foreshadowing~.

Are we concerned about the demon? I think we should be concerned about the demon, guys. Because otherwise there is absolutely no point to this being stuck in there.

So ends this somewhat pointless but entertaining episode. It wasn't too bad. Nice diversion, at least. I still don't think this show is going anywhere, though...
